Books: My second favorite book is ATLAS SHRUGGED by Ayn Rand; my favorite book is the one I'm writing right now. Other favorites include THE FOUNTAINHEAD and ANTHEM by Ayn Rand, LOVING LIFE by Craig Biddle, ECONOMICS IN ONE LESSON by Henry Hazlitt, THE CAPITALIST MANIFESTO by Andrew Bernstein, and OPAR by Leonard Peikoff of course!

Movies: I am a fan of HEROES, PRISONBREAK, HOUSE M.D., CSI (the Vegas one), Animal Planet's MEERKAT MANOR and BIG CAT DIARY, NUMB3RS and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and, when it was airing, my all-time favorite was FIREFLY.My favorite movies are 300, BRAVEHEART, TROY, GLADIATOR, and V FOR VENDETTA.Additional favorites include: LORD OF THE RINGS (all 3 in the series); SERENITY, CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, OPEN RANGE, THE LAST SAMURAI, BATMAN BEGINS, and the HARRY POTTER movies.

Music: My favorites include EVANESCENCE, 3 DOORS DOWN, NICKELBACK, some METALLICA (Black Album, Load, SnM particularly), GODSMACK (Serenity is one of my top favorite songs), and lots of 80s stuff.

Hobbies: I am currently working on my first novel. It is a science-fiction story (with dashes of fantasy...for flavor) set during a drawn-out and convoluted first contact with multiple civilizations (some more advanced, some not). Lots of philosophy stuff, lots of politics....very sticky going right now but I'm loving it.

I've been a student of Objectivism since first reading Ayn Rand in 1991.When I was 22, a friend overheard me bragging about reading Stephen King's novel IT cover to cover in 6 hours (which I did, wasn't lying about that...crappy novel as it turns out). He lobbed this huge paperback at me and dared me to read all 1,100 pages of it in 6 hours (IT by King is almost the same number of pages). That book was ATLAS SHRUGGED...which took me 2 months to read...and cliche or not...it changed my life. Ayn Rand and her philosophy Objectivism have had a major effect on my world outlook and I hope to reflect that in my own book.I am a subscriber of The Harry Binswanger List and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in intelligent philosophical discussion: www.hbl.com

ANTHEM-{Chapter 11}-I am. I think. I will. My hands . . . My spirit . . . My sky . . . My forest . . . This earth of mine. . . . What must I say besides? These are the words. This is the answer. I stand here on the summit of the mountain. I lift my head and I spread my arms. This, my body and...
