Sir VG of Speed Demos Archive presents:Namco X Capcom Speedrun (v2)This is a work in progress, one that will not be submitted to SDA. Two reasons are behind this:1: This is a fan translation of the game.2: This game goes WELL beyond the 7 hour soft limit for speedrun submission length. However, I'm finding this to be fun to do as a side project. For those that watched my original videos I posted here, I removed them and started over. The reasons behind this were:1: I'm understanding the game considerably better. I still don't know everything, but I know more.2: I was recording before in HQ, but due to the fact that some of the segments were over 1 hr in length, that means they wouldn't have fit on 1 DVD. And given how long this thing is, I would have wasted a LOT of DVDs doing this. Yes, I can use DVD-RWs, but I want to keep this for all time...so I dropped the recording to SP. This means I can get 2 hrs/DVD, but you won't be able to tell the difference.Keep rooting me on here as I undergo this HUGE task! :)~ Sir VGhttp://speedruns.imamyth.com/http://speeddemosarchive.com/http://tasvideos.org/

Oct 4, 2008 - Apparently this didn't work last time, so let's try again...Questions:1. When will we see more of this?2. Is it just me or do Klonoa&Gantz get their turns quicker than anyone?3. What actually restores MP in this game besides maybe attacking a certain way?4. What controls 'branch up' (extra combo hits)?5. What's with Sakura&Karin? Do their stats randomize at the start of their turn? The answers to 2 through 5 might be worth researching if you don't know them already.

SirVG Says:

Oct 4, 2008 - 1. I have other priorities for speed running right now, so I'll get back to this later. When, I don't know.2. No, I don't think so.3. There are items that restore MP that you can buy in between chapters.4. Number of hits completed.5. No, I don't believe it does. If anything doesn't seem consistent, it's the timing of hits.

Oct 5, 2008 - I think I may have noticed the phenomenon I discussed in (2) with other characters at times. Is there something about the battle system and turn order that might explain what's going on?I bring up (3) because there's a couple of places so far in the run that might have benefitted from another Multiple Assault. As far as (5): I may not have been clear here, but I was actually referring to the symbols shown at the start of the turn. I've seen this kind of thing with Morrigan too.

Oct 5, 2008 - Ah, I know what you're talking about. Unfortunately, I have NO clue as to what those do. They haven't been a benefit or a hindrance either way.I'm not sure of any places where a MA would be more beneficial. The problem really lies in positioning. Also, too many of the MAs are very limited in targets. Like Ryu/Ken's MA, it's them against 1 enemy for only ~2000 damage. Ones like that aren't very beneficial.
