Dec 3, 2008 - The reason because its blank black is because laser works best on the black surface, and you don't want your mouse to skip some frames because there is an ugly face on it, etc... Those who knows what Razer is they will respect your choose. Who cares how its looks as long its good ? I'm gonah buy that mouse pad too ;)

Dec 3, 2008 - Flat black = best accuracy. Texture + black color means that optical mouses read it best.The gliding depends on the mouse. If you use like a heavy MX1000, you need a really rough pad, light mouses with slick surfaces.The weave also determines how well mouses read it. Too big gaps, not good, too subtle, not good. Ordinary cloth pads (around 10 dollars) are the optimal ones. My allsop pad is now 9 years old, no curling around the edges. Paid like 5 dollars. Its the raindrop one, but black.

Dec 3, 2008 - depending on the type of games. If lets say you play unreal speed would be your best bang for your buck type of thing since its a twitch game but for a game like COD or Crysis control is better for more aqurate shots. I hope this helps you spend your hard earned money. =)

Dec 3, 2008 - OK, I'm having a really hard time picking one!Some reviews say the Control creates more friction because of the rougher weaving.And some say the Speed does because it has more dense weaving than the Control's pit-weaving (mouse touches less).I'd just like a surface that's not too rough but definitely not too slick.I just use medium speeds.So which one would be best for me? I'm completely confused now.My first choice was the Control, since I like to just go easy and "be in control".
