Today's video is an informative one from http://LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com blogger Jimmy Moore and his wife Christine as they discuss the all-important two-week period on a low-carb diet known as Induction. Anyone starting low-carb needs to get their body into ketosis so their body can begin burning stored fat for fuel.In Episode 38 of their popular "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube" video series, Jimmy and Christine discuss the basics of low-carb Induction by telling you exactly what foods you should and shouldn't eat on this earliest phase. Remember, you don't stay in this phase for long unless you have a lot of weight to lose. And the purpose of Induction is NOT weight loss--it's to kickstart your body into burning fat. Here's what you eat during Induction:- Unlimited meats and eggs- 1 cup of non-starchy veggies- 2 cups of green leafy veggies- 3 bowls of bouillon broth- 4 ounces of cheese- 6 olives - 1/2 avocado- 3 teaspoons of lemon/lime juice- 4 tablespoons of heavy cream- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce- 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise- 1 serving of picklesIn future videos, Jimmy and Christine will continue to talk about the various aspects of Induction, including snacks, sweeteners, and other such important topics for people choosing to begin on their own healthy low-carb lifestyle journey. You WON'T want to miss those!Keep watching "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube" and send us your comments and questions at livinlowcarbman@charter.net anytime. livinlowcarbman Says:

May 21, 2008 - Store brand hot dogs are the WORST! What DO they put in those? :)On Induction, whipped cream is marginal...it is technically cream and you are allowed up to 4 tablespoons of it a day. WAY TO GO on the blood pressure, Tony! WOO HOO! KEEP IT UP!!!

livinlowcarbman Says:

May 21, 2008 - Nathan's and Hebrew National are the two VERY best ones as they both only have 1g carbs each.

May 21, 2008 - Great video!I've found that the only nuts that don't toss me out of ketosis are pumpkin seeds. Sometimes I can get away with pistachios, but I have to make sure that I count them.

May 22, 2008 - Induction made easy...Thank you very much. Is there somewhere where you could list all the foods and their quantities so I could print it off?BTW what can I put in my coffee apart from the heavy cream. Or should I use up the cream allowance for coffee. Then my next question is "Is coffee allowed"? I would die without my morning coffee.

livinlowcarbman Says:

May 23, 2008 - THANK YOU for watching! I provided the full list of foods that I mentioned in this video over in the show notes section to the right (click on the more info link next to the "Added" date), so you should be able to print those. Yes, use heavy whipping cream for your coffee which is permitted during Induction. I'll be sharing more about coffee and other Induction rules in our next video. THANKS for watching!

May 23, 2008 - How's the IF going brother? I posted my 1st vid on the subject! Man i'm hungry!

livinlowcarbman Says:

May 23, 2008 - After four days and RAVING HUNGER, I've decided to stop it. There was no results on the scale like the last time and I don't like feeling out of control when I am finally allowed to eat again. It doesn't work for me, but I'm glad it does for others. They must be gluttons for punishment, though!

May 24, 2008 - Hey Jimmy and Christine, I really like these do's/don'ts, good stuff here. Like I told you one time way back in a diff vid, i LOST 90 lbs doing like 5 carbs a week and that's stretching it maybe, but yeah maybe 5 a week, wow, LOVE this line of vids man, AND woman :) yaw take care!!

livinlowcarbman Says:

May 24, 2008 - You keep at it...I'm so proud of you! :D

beaumec242 Says:

Jun 2, 2008 - you can eat meat, tuna and so on,but you don't have to eat more than your daily intake otherwise your body will start to store that excess into bodyfat

livinlowcarbman Says:

Jun 2, 2008 - Eating to satiety, or your ability to satisfy your hunger, is the key to livin' la vida low-carb. Stuffing yourself is not Atkins low-carb as has been traditionally portrayed. We address this in Episode 40. :)
