This is my tribute to Gary Bailey; Manchester United GoalKeeper from 1978 to 1987. A very good looking boy who inspired me to become the Man Utd fan I am today. The first of the two great blond goal keepers Man Utd have had in modern times!Scenes extracted from matches from ITV4 recent re-runs of the Big Match; Feb/March 83 Man Utd vs Everton FA Cup Final QuarterFinals; of course we went onto win the cup that year thanks to a goal in this match by Frank Stapleton assisted by Lou Macari who had been substitued on in injury time. Also extracts from Man Utd vs Liverpool 1-1.But this is not about those games - this is my homage to Gary Bailey with thanks for all the memories. Music is the ITV 'Big Match' theme tune; which still thrills me to hear it's cheap 80s synthesised pop-nessAny anti-Manchester Utd comments will be removed immediately, so please don't even bother. I thank you.

Apr 5, 2008 - Wouldn't call Bailey great, just competent. Just. We've had much better than him.

Apr 5, 2008 - Ha! Well maybe you weren't judging him in the same way I was as an impressionable 16yr yr old "red-blooded" girl ;o). [And of course he kept us in the Brighton FA CUP by doing a save in the last minute or so to make it a replay; I'll give that as great too]. All the best; its just a bit of fun.

Apr 5, 2008 - Aye, his save in 83 was excellent. He was a massive improvement on Paddy Roche; and deffo better than Barthez :)

May 9, 2008 - Well any keeper who saves three penalties in one match as Bailey did against my team (Ipswich) has to have something going for him. Had he not done so, there would be a 9-9 aggregate draw in terms of heaviest victories over one another :0DBailey was a damned fine keeper and you certainly missed him in the interregnum before Schmeichel arrived. Chris Turner? Jim Leighton????

Jul 16, 2008 - Bailey was a decent keeper, and worthy of his England place. I wouldn't however, describe him as world-class, I don't think that he was quite in the same League as some of his contemporaries, ie Clemence, Shilton etc.

Mar 29, 2008 - What at great keeper he was and thank you for sharing this video as it features Man United-Liverpool from 1983, a game me and my father travelled from Sweden to see and so it was my first visit to Old Trafford.
