Chinese government has a history of violating and manipulating the news of it's own people. there are lots of citations even from mao tse tung that the relation between Tibet and china was difficult to explain. But big parts of china even were occupied by tibetans and mongolians. Even independent information sources like Google are censored by the chinese government, so you can't help being badly informed

Look what happened to demonstrators in Lhassa, when they demonstrated against chinese interferance. Or aren't you allowed to look at the videos?
