Jan 8, 2009 - you misread. Its better with regards to the price versus what you get. You could pay twice the price and not get THAT much of a difference. A 200 dollar investment in a MIM strat puts it at about 90-95% the total sound/playability of an american standard, while still being a couple hundred cheaper. It won't hold value the same, but for playing who cares?

Jan 8, 2009 - Nice. Do you have expierience with Texas Special pickups? Im trying to decide to either get Tex Mex pickups or Texas Special pickups? I think either choice would be good for blues though.

TalkerWalker Says:

Jan 8, 2009 - I played two times a guitar with this pickups (Fender SRV and Fender SRV copy). I think Tex Special are much more bassy and muddy. Tex Mex (cheaper) have more treble and they are spicy in my opinion. You have too check what you like because it's totally diffrent sound (don't forget that type of wood is also important).

Jan 8, 2009 - Thnx! No, I'm from Poland ;)

Jan 8, 2009 - They are special type of pickupps that are used to get that dark texas blues sound that you hear. Think of Stevie ray vaughn and his brother jimmie vaughn. They just produce that bluesier sound.

Jan 8, 2009 - Mex strats are decent guitars. Craftsmanship is not very consistent for import Strats so you have to look for that one "diamond in the rough".

Jan 8, 2009 - hey this video is so cool..err I want to buy the FENDER MEX STD STRAT MN BK UPGRADE..is it the same as you have ?..and if yes..are you happy with the one you have ? aren't there any problems with it ?

Changer01 Says:

Jan 8, 2009 - At about three one sees what great crunch they really got. Sometimes the Pickups that sound the weakest when clean have the best crunch sounds because distortion is never linear.

Jan 8, 2009 - Or just polish the bastard up!But then it could get expensive :( but usually when done right always worth it!

Jan 8, 2009 - could u get some metal sounds on this guitar?

TalkerWalker Says:

Jan 8, 2009 - Hi! If you change a stock pickups for mini-humbackers (bridge and neck) it will be much better for metal.

morrixon2 Says:

Jan 8, 2009 - great playing

Stra2casterAtHotmail Says:

Jan 8, 2009 - I think I have the same model strat, is your's a 2002 MIM? The color is sage green metallic right?my serial number starts with MZ2. yours? And did you put on the mother of pearl pickguard?

TalkerWalker Says:

Jan 8, 2009 - My is 2004 MiM and it's blue agave (bad quality of video). Stock pickguard was white.

tubestevestrat Says:

Jan 8, 2009 - I think I have the same strat 2002 MIM - Mine's a metalic Blue - I think they call it Daphne Blue - Hot guitar - Very surprised at hot angry it can get - Because I play a bluesy style it suits perfectly and compliments my other strats nicely. Nice playing mate - I dig the Bluesy stuff you're getting out of that strat too - Dunks

LRonCupboard Says:

Jan 8, 2009 - Nice sound. Mex Strats come with crappy ceramic bar magnet pickups so don't qualify as Strats sound-wise. Sticking in any set of PUs with alnico poles makes them real Strats. GFS Tex-Mex and vintage are good for upgrades on Mex Strats. Easy on the wallet, nice on the ears.
